Roasted sweet potatoes

Sometimes you just want simplicity, either because you have enough of food with 40 different herbs and spices that take hours to cook and want to eat something less... processed. Or just because you don't have time to cook something that sophisticated or just because you feel tired and / or lazy and don't want to spend hours cooking. Well then... this recipe is for you.



In France, I ate my first sweet potatoes as an adult, something like 10-15 years ago and I kinda wished I discovered it before. Beside the fact that it is delicious, sweet potatoes have as many if not more uses than potatoes and in France we do love good potatoes. So here is a roasted sweet potatoes recipe that blends Asian sauce and spices with rosemary; a delight.

Difficulty: Very easy

Caloric intake: about  250 Kcal per portion
Price: very cheap

Roasted sweet potatoes to accompany all fishes and meats. A delight.

Ingredients:

For 4-6 people
2 sweet potatoes (adjust depending on the size, mine were slightly too big; preferably take the orange
flesh ones as the other kinds won't give the same result.)
1 tablespoon rosemary
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon honey
1/2 teaspoon ginger


Preparation:

    Step 1
  1. Slice the sweet potatoes in roughly 1 - 1.5 cm wide slices and crisscross their  top face.

  2. Place the slices on an ovenproof dish.

  3. Mix all the other ingredients together and apply to obtained sauce on the crisscrossed faces of the slices of sweet potatoes.

  4. Step 3
  5. Cook for 40-45 mn depending at 210°C.

  6. Eat alone, with some meat, some fish or just with rice




Variations:
You may modify and / or add any spices to your will, some combinations may not work well tho.
You may barbecue the sweet potatoes instead of roasting them but if doing so, either make thinner slices or precook them in order to avoid an overly cook surface with an under-cooked heart.
